The San José Sharks are famous for breaking down in the playoffs, but after a renovation of the roster does it seem to be the right year for the Sharks from the west. They were great in the regular season, and they have won a lot of games in the playoffs too for a change. They have now a lead with 2-0 against the Detroit Red Wings who have a good team and they usually perform well in the big games.  But as I said, the Sharks look good, better than ever actually, and the heavy pressure that has been on players like Thornton and Heatley seem to be gone. They are playing with another kind of self confidence, and they have started putting up points on the scoreboard. If they can continue may they carry the team really far this spring. They have the same offensive power as teams like the Penguins and the Blackhawks, and just like the Penguins, the last years Stanley Cup-winner, do they’ve got a good goalie. That is the difference between the Sharks andother top teams, like the Washington Capitals for example.

The Detroit Red Wings roster is very experienced, but the players are getting older and older. They are dock getting an advantage in these kinds of games when players that can handle pressure are playing. In the first round of the playoffs did the Red Wings have problems with the Phoenix Coyotes, who had a good team this year, but they couldn’t keep up with the Red Wings on the ice and their skilled forwards. It was just the sharp shots that were missing, but then again, the Coyotes had a great goalie in Ilya Bryzgalov. The Sharks goalie Evgeni Nabokov is absolutely at the same level as Bryzgalov, so it can be hard for the Red Wings to score in this game too.

The Detroit Red Wings really have to win this game to keep it close in the series. With some help from the home crowd do I think they will win this. Many of the more experienced players know what it is all about. They are going to come out calm and focused and make the series 2-1.
