At the moment are both the St. Louis Blues and the New York Rangers below the playoff line and essential points are on stake in every game. The Rangers need a win to get closer to the Boston Bruins who they are playing in the next game, and the Blues need to get a couple of wins to decrease the distance to the Minnesota Wild, the Calgary Flames and the Detroit Red Wings.

The Blues seem to be better than the Rangers right now and they have won seven of the last ten games and four of the last six on the road. They are however coming with two recent losses and that is tough mentally. The Rangers have had big problems and they lack the consistency that it takes to go in and compete in every game. Games have been lost because of simple mistakes and it’s not good enough if you want to make it to the playoffs.  Lundqvist has been playing a lot, and it is really hard to keep a high level when you are playing almost every game in an entire season.

The Blues are strong on the road. Among the best in the league. The Rangers are just as bad at home as the Blues are away, so I believe that the Blues will go in and win this tonight, in a close game with a lot of goals. 4-3 or 5-4 is my bet.
